The Workshop
The fifth annual Toh Shimazaki Architecture Forum is now open for applications.
t-sa forum is an architectural workshop run by London
practice Toh Shimazaki Architecture (t-sa). Its aim is to
support students’ academic development in close association
with professional practice by providing a platform
for research that allows students to carry out critical
investigations according to their own interests and ideas.
The Course
Under the overall theme of ‘Context and
Craft’, participants will be encouraged to develop an
architectural proposal in response to the main area of
investigation, ’Micro & Macro’.
Elements of the brief will be based on t-sa’s live projects.
Students will have weekly tutorials with t-sa forum tutors
who support the participants throughout the course.
By the end of the course the team of students is expected to
have produced a final, collaborative work that summarises their
proposal. A high level of material and
conceptual refinement will be expected. The final work will be assessed
by t-sa forum tutors, t-sa staff and visiting practitioners
in a final presentation and group crit. The final work will be
published in the t-sa forum book.
In addition to practical work in the studio, the course
includes office visits and evening lectures with some of
the most exciting talents in the UK.
